| Technologists working in academia have traditionally been defined as support staff, a categorization that is reflected in our titles and job descriptions. The perception exists that as staff working with technology, we are not integral to the core mission of teaching and learning. Rather, our role is often understood to be pure support, more along the lines of maintenance than anything else: we provide hardware and software solutions, make sure that the hardware and software function smoothly and troubleshoot problems when they appear. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
